Fibroidectomy
Fibroidectomy also known as myomectomy. Myomectomy is the removal of fibroids (noncancerous tumors) from the wall of the uterus. Myomectomy is the preferred treatment for symptomatic fibroids in women who want to keep their uterus. Larger fibroids must be removed with an abdominal incision, but small fibroids can be taken out using laparoscopy or hysteroscopy.
Risks of Myomectomy :
Damage to pelvic tissue (uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, bladder, bowel)
Scarring (adhesions) that may cause pain or infertility.
Scarring that may rupture during pregnancy or childbirth.
Infection of the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or uterus.
Heavy, uncontrolled bleeding that may require a hysterectomy.
